The Victorian Women, with Sam Daly (and Stewart Fenton coaching), played an absolute cracking final ultimately winning 6-1 over NSW. It was virtually over at half time with a 4-0 lead. However NSW fought hard early in the second half getting to 4-1 and creating a few other opportunities but the Vics resisted strongly and then regained control for the last ten minutes. Tegan Boucher finished off all the good work with 5 of the 6 goals. Sam played well as did all the other girls in a great team effort.
The Victorian Men, with Markus Baeder missing with a hamstring injury, were again short of numbers for the third place playoff against ACT. The Allan Bros with Gus (ACT) and TA (Vic) were great to watch but ultimately ACT were more efficient with their chances running out 6-4 victors. Scott Cullen scored 2 field goals and TA scored 1 Field Goal. In the GF, NSW took on WA in a high quality game. WA came from 1-3 down with 2 minutes to play after substituting the GK for a kicking back to level at 3 all. In Golden Goal extra time (with WA's Goalie reinstated) NSW were the first to score and hence took the Gold with a 4-3 scoreline. (Report: Phil Everist)
In the National Under 21 Championships at Launceston, the Victorian Women (with Sarah Darling, Anna Moore, Sophie Sheahan and Caitlin Smith) finished 5th, albeit very narrowly.
